In Greek Mythology, forces of nature are described as ‘gods’ or ‘spirits’, a way to describe the epic scale and power of nature. A Siren harnesses its ‘song’, its power to invoke a storm, drawing on natural forces to redirect the outcome for the natural world. Given the wildfires and floods impacting people across the UK, Europe and globally, this power is being felt more strongly every year.

‘The Calling’ asks each of us individually to sing out and call for a different future. We can take the opportunity to work together both on a global scale and where we live for the natural spaces that surround us.

A 2023 report showed that every river in the UK had chemical pollution and that we have the worst water quality in Europe. In 2022 Thames Water had its worst year for serious pollution incidents for a decade. Water is the conduit that connects all life. If we pollute our rivers it has a direct impact on our health. The best way to take action is to join others working together fora more positive outcome, holding official bodies to account and taking positive action today.
